Welcome to the all-new Blue Finch Designs.

2013 was a busy yet memorable year for me. Even though my graphic design career started many years ago, my professional career all started out in 2011 when I was contacted to help design for a local magazine and marketing company in Russellville, Arkansas. It was a crazy two years to say the least. I worked alongside an amazing woman named Peg, the head of production and advertising, who gave me a crash course in the magazine industry as well as how to work with printers (the folks who actually print the magazines) in and outside the state. As time progressed, she was given an amazing opportunity that she couldn’t pass up, and after more than 20 years in the industry, you could imagine this was a big step for her. Many sad goodbyes later and a big decision from the publisher, I was officially promoted to head of production and head of advertising in 2012.

First order of business – I needed a team. So I hired an editorial and content manager and a second person to help with the magazines and advertising, none other than my best friend and now fiancé, Sara. Together we created hundreds upon hundreds of advertising and worked with hundreds of clients and many great people putting together over 14 state wide area, sports, hunting and outdoor magazines as well as a couple bridal magazines. I loved what did even though it could be stressful at times.  A year later, well actually less than that, I was contacted and given an opportunity to further my career even more, which I couldn’t pass up. That is where I am today, a graphic designer for The Log Cabin Democrat in Conway, Arkansas where I’ve been for a year coming in February. I work alongside some pretty amazing people. I couldn’t be happier.

So, what is “Blue Finch Designs”? And why do freelance if you’re already working?

Good questions. Now to start, I wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize my career as a graphic designer for the Log Cabin, but Blue Finch Designs is what I do outside of work as freelance. Blue Finch Designs is the name I gave myself years ago while attending college, as part of a project for a graphic design class. The name stuck. Blue Finch designs gives me the opportunity to use my entire skill set to help others who don’t know where to go when it comes to logo design, photography, or anything that requires designing in general. I love what I do and plan on doing it forever. I’m passionate about it and hope that shows in my work. Need design or advice? Let me know! I’m more than happy to help out no matter what.
